PCP Fifth National Conference 2016 Report

The report from the Fifth National Conference held on 20 October 2016, was prepared in collaboration with Frontline Consulting and Grant Thornton. The theme of the Conference was Power check: Building on successes for PCPs.

The Conference was kindly hosted by West Midlands PCP and held in Birmingham. in the Council House. The keynote session Learning the lessons of the past: creating a more positive future was delivered by Professor Rod Morgan, Professor Emeritus of Criminal Justice, University of Bristol; and Professor Stephen Shute, Pro-Vice-Chancellor for Planning and Resources, University of Sussex.

Our sponsors, Grant Thornton, along with our Senior Associate, Tim Young, facilitated a discussion on Policing accountability and expectations. A series of workshops were also held:

  • PCPs and the wider criminal justice remit (led by West Midlands PCP)
  • Regional collaboration (led by Nottinghamshire PCP) 
  • Strategic alliances (led by Dorset PCP & Hertfordshire PCP)
  • Working with a new PCC (led by Kent PCP and Humberside PCP)
  • Complaints handling (led by Hampshire PCP)
  • Emergency services collaboration (led by Lincolnshire PCP)
