The Police, Crime, Sentencing and Courts Bill
The Government announced The Police, Crime, Sentencing and Courts Bill. Further information on the Bill can be found here. The Bill seeks to provide the Police with a range of powers 'and tools they need to protect themselves and the public'. It also overhauls sentencing laws to keep serious sexual and violent offenders in prison for longer, and placing greater emphasis on rehabilitation to better help offenders to turn their lives around and prevent further crimes. The Bill also provides the Police with additional powers to deal with protests.
To support the Bill, the Goverment has produced a series of fact sheets which cover the range of measures contained within the Bill. Please click here to access the fact sheets.
